Troubleshooting

From our years of experience and servicing here are some of the most common problems our technicians have found when it comes to water heaters:

• Hot water tank leaks, which can be identified by wet spots around the base of the tank usually require a professional to locate the source of the leak.
• Pilot light faults which cause the tank to shut off due to a tripped pilot flame sensor can be remedied by cleaning and re-lighting the pilot light. If this issues is not resolved with these simple steps the pilot assembly may need to be replaced.
• Storing paints or other solvents that produce fumes near the tank may trip the fume sensor. These sensors usually require a specific sequence to reset, so we recommend contacting our technicians to come and take a look. Storing of these products in the mechanical room is never recommended.
• Unusually loud noises coming from the tank may mean that a exhaust motor replacement is needed. Getting a technician to take a quick look may save you money as these parts are usually warrantied - and no one likes a cold shower.
